HPLC2009 in Dresden

The meeting was held in Dresden, Germany, June 28- July 2, 2009.

As Silver Sponsor of this important HPLC-Symposium we exhibited the newest HPLC method development software applications of PeakMatch® and DryLab®, which are dealing with issues of the Quality by Design (QbD) movement and questions about the Design Space (DS). Working inside of the Design Space allows the chromatographer greater flexibility in his work, as he might change experimental conditions without a new validation. We exhibited examples of industrial interest, and showed, how to reduce the number of factors to those, which are of importance and demonstrated full chromatographic access by changing temperature, pH, gradient time, ternary composition and further variations of the methods in terms of gradient shape, flowrate, and column dimensions.

In the "Quality by Design" session, which was chaired by Dr. Fritz Erni of Novartis, Dr. Moheb Nasr from the FDA gave a tutorial lecture on the subject. Dr. Molnár gave a presentation about how to elaborate the Design Space in HPLC and supported it by practical examples.

The Molnár-Institute, Silver Sponsor of the meeting, used the opportunity to inform interested participants about the latest scientific developments of DryLab® 2010, a method development software includes two additional tools: PeakMatch® for easier peak tracking in the Design of Experiments (DoE) process and Column Match for the comparison of 400 HPLC columns according to their relative selectivity.

The HPLC Symposium Series represents the premier Conference for liquid phase separations and related techniques. The next european HPLC meeting will be in 2011 in Budapest. Dr.Imre Molnár is a member of the organizing commitee.

Budapest is expected to attract a hugh scientific crowd to celebrate the memory of the Hugarian-born scientist Prof. Csaba Horváth, inventor of HPLC, who revolutionized modern Life Science. The chairman of the meeting is Prof. Attila Felinger of the University in Pécs, Hungary.
